Unlocking Maries
Potential

Marie completed her studies in Hospitality and Catering at Bridgewater and Taunton College, achieving an NVQ level 1, 2, and 3. This comprehensive course equipped her with a diverse skill set for the hospitality industry, honing her abilities in both the kitchen and front-of-house service.

In 2007, Marie embarked on her career within the Brend Collection, starting as a commis chef at The Barnstaple Hotel. Seeking new opportunities, she transitioned to The Park Hotel in 2015, continuing her culinary journey. However, circumstances changed when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. As the hotel gradually reopened, Marie seized the chance to contribute in various areas she hadn't previously considered. It was during one such instance when Steve, the hotel manager, noticed her pulling a pint, a task she had never done before. This led to a change in career for Marie switching roles and joining the bar team.

Throughout her tenure at The Park, Marie had the valuable opportunity to elevate her skill set through High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), with an initial focus on customer service. As we fast-forward to 2023, Marie has continued to advance, securing a position as Hotel Supervisor. This role not only recognises her progress but also entails HIIT training specifically designed for supervisors, equipping her with the necessary expertise to excel in overseeing hotel operations.

Marie Woolacott, Hotel Supervisor at The Park Hotel

Marie's remarkable journey within the Brend Collection not only granted her a rewarding career but also brought her the joy of meeting her husband, Pete Woolacott. Fate intertwined their paths at The Barnstaple Hotel, where Pete served as a Second Chef. Together, they embarked on a shared adventure, transitioning to The Park Hotel, and have since cherished thirteen years of a blissful marriage.

Reflecting on her time at The Park Hotel, Marie summarised her experience by stating, "Transitioning to a front-of-house role has allowed me to fully embrace the joy that our hotel brings to our customers and guests. I have the privilege of firsthand witnessing the happiness and excitement our guests experience during their visit, whether it's a quick coffee or a longer stay. It is a truly enriching experience to witness the comfort we offer to our guests."
