As a Hospitality Manager Apprentice, you will have a passion for exceeding customers' expectations. During our apprenticeship, you have a high level of responsibility and are accountable for fulfilling the business vision and objectives.

The apprenticeship programme takes a minimum of 18 months, during which time you will earn whilst you learn. You will work alongside the hotel teams, with HIT Training looking after the academic side of your qualification. Please note there are no days at college for this apprenticeship.

During your apprenticeship you will get hands-on experience within the hospitality industry as well as gain a nationally recognised qualification which you can take anywhere - There may even be an opportunity to stay with us and see where your next steps take you. You will also receive competitive pay above the Government apprenticeship standard and free meals on duty and paid holidays. 

What students will do as a hospitality manager apprentice:
As an apprentice with us here at The Devon Hotel you will develop the highest standard of hospitality skills while working as part of the team to ensure an amazing guest experience. The role is very varied and, although apprentices tend to specialise in an area, you will have to be adaptable and ready to support colleagues across the business, for example during busy periods. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Develop fantastic ‘hospitality’ skills across a variety of standards
  • Choose a hospitality specialism such as a food and beverage manager, housekeeping manager, front office manager, revenue manager, conference and events manager, kitchen manager and multi-functional manager
  • Gain an industry-recognised qualification to a national standard
  • Work as part of a team and develop interpersonal skills
  • Manage team members which includes managing staffing levels, monitoring performance and employee retention and training.
  • Proactively seek opportunities and ways to maximise revenue and develop service delivery
  • Manage budgets and finances and control expenditure
  • Suggest and implement new ideas
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with guests and staff
